Preliminary remarks:
During the municipal reform the municipalities Sulding and Hohenpolding have joined in 1978 to form the municipality Hohenpolding. None of the two former municipalities had used own municipal arms.

The district government of Upper Bavaria approved the adoption of the arms on February 8th 1983.
Design of the arms:
Theodor Goerge, Freising.
Lily as a symbol for Virgin Mary.
Cross as a symbol for the patrocinium of Sulding.
Coat-of-arms of the cloister Frauenchiemsee.
