Preliminary remarks:

As from October 1st 1971 the municipality Hofstarring has been incorporated into Steinkirchen. None of the former municipalities had used own arms.

 

Foundation of the arms:

The district government of Upper Bavaria approved the adoption of the arms on February 8th 1983.
